Scheduling Policies & Procedures
Lesson overviewKey Questions to consider
|
lesson ObjectivesIn this module you will be introduced to the scheduling policies and procedures that drive classroom scheduling. These policies are in place to provide a universal understanding of the requirements for scheduling academic spaces. Prior to jumping into the class webform process, it is critical to understand the key policies, requirements and dates for scheduling academic spaces for classes. The following topics will be covered in providing more detail on the academic policies for all Registrar's Office-owned spaces on campus (for departmental rooms, please contact the owning department for specific policies):
Lastly, start to think about your departmental rooms/spaces and the policies for these rooms. Are they similar to the Registrar's Office's requirements? After reviewing the Lesson Overview, please review this week's required readings below. These readings are critical in understanding the key deadlines by when to submit your course/class updates and in understanding what times/days your classes can be offered to be considered in compliance with both University requirements and WASC standards. Required readings:
Allowable Class Times & Days in which Classes can be offered Course & Scheduling Entry Deadlines - 2014 & 2015 |
Practice
In Bi.Stanford.eduIn this module, you are urged to spend time reviewing the Time Schedule Report (PS_SR109a) in BI Report system. In your Reflection Notebook you will make a list of all of the Autumn, Winter and Spring courses that do not meet the 'Allowable Class Times & Days' found via the Required Reading link above in this unit. Keep track of these courses in your Reflection Notebook, so in the next unit you can make the desired changes to meet the compliant meeting times via updating the classes with a class webform (2 hours total)

Google DriveOnce you have made a list of the classes with non-compliant meeting times in your Reflection Notebook, briefly reflect on how you will communicate the schedule changes that will need to be made with faculty. Think about some of the challenges and approaches you will take in convincing faculty that the classes need to meet the Allowable Class Times/Days offered by the University.
When complete, update the CM Assignment Tracker in Google Drive. Update your column with an 'X' stating that you have completed this task. (1 hour) |
Discussion ForumPost a response to the question in the Scheduling Policies discussion forum regarding the challenges you face in updating any non-compliant courses to meet the allowable class time standards. Read how other departments have handled this issue previously, and offer suggestions on improving your non-compliant meeting time classes. (30 minutes)
